I have lived in Ottawa for 17 years and desire to see this city remain strong, prosperous and competitive. As a mother and wife the future of this city is of vital importance to me as a place where our children will raise their own families in years to come.
I hold a Masters of Business Administration from Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science and Nutrition from Ahfad University, and a Diploma in Applied Information Technology from Information Technology Institute, Ottawa.
In the community, I have served on the board of directors for both the Uganda Association of Ottawa and the Uganda Canadian National Association; organizations which support the integration of new immigrants into Canadian society and provide mentorship and community resource information to new comers. I am currently extensively involved in working with the African Canadian Children’s Choir, an after school program for children from low income communities inspiring them through music and dance including educative drama.
My passion to run for City Council has been inspired by my life’s journey and experiences in Ottawa over the last 17 years, I started from a very humble beginning working as a waitress in a downtown restaurant; went back to school, a training that enabled me become an IT instructor at Algonquin College and later worked as a Senior Consultant and Project Manager for Adobe Systems in Ottawa. I am very proud of this experience which has helped me believe in the possibilities that Ottawa can offer. I am currently working with Bluedrop Performance Learning Inc as Director of Operations.
I have come to look at mine as a typical journey of an ordinary person in the Gloucester-Southgate (Ward 10) community. It is a journey and experience that inspires and convinces me that my determination, resilience, hard work and resourcefulness will make a difference and get the job done at City Hall.
