Fiesty and Fun CFRA Muny Panel Yesterday
If you didn’t you can catch it here:
Rob Snow went to town on Councillor Chernushenko on the solar panel deal but it was Scott Moffatt who made the point that he’s not a Liberal MPP and he didn’t draft the Green Energy “scheme”. And if the Ontario government is stupid enough to give away taxpayer money at many times the going rate for energy, then it’s in Ottawa taxpayers’ interest for the city to try to grab as much of it as it could. Moffatt said “the money is going to be spent from the province…this is a way to try to get some of taxpayers dollars money back into the taxpayers hands”. I guess he is saving some money from the wasteful practices of the provincial government.
But the main point I liked in the discussion was when Snow said that there seemed to be a lack of public discussion on the Jim Watson budget. Everything going before council seems to pass without much fuss. The newbies said that if the budget meets their objectives, there is no reason to argue for the sake of arguing. Hmmm…maybe they haven’t read all the details in the budget proposal. The public presentation glosses over many fine points and changes this budget covers. As the public realizes the impact of the budget, maybe it won’t be so cozy. The newbies don’t want to be seen as lackeys do they?
