Did Dalton McGuinty say the Ontario Economy is Dead?
On Wednesday, Premier Dalton McGuinty toured the Entrepreneur Centre at Ottawa city hall. There he discussed the “sacrifices like paying the HST and footing increased hydro bills” Ontarians must make to help the provincial economy (CTV News: Premier defends HST in Ottawa).
These comments are similar to what McGuinty said recently in Orillia Ontario: “”But I think most people understand as well that the old economy — the one that was there before the recession — is not going to come back on its own. We’re going to have to build something stronger, and the HST is an indispensable part of a new foundation for economic growth”
Well, based on these comments, the Premier may also have to make a sacrifice to help the Ontario get back on its feet…he will have to retire his job. And if he will not follow the lead of Premier Gordon Campbell of BC, the Ontario voters are ready to do their part.
Here are some of the comments posted on the CTV News site from his Ottawa visit:

I agree with McGuinty. The old economy is dead in Ontario because YOU sir KILLED IT with your health “it’s not a tax” premium, ehealth scandal wasting BILLIONS of $$$, eco tax, HST and so on.
October 2011 can’t come soon enough for most Ontario voters, but I’m sure you’ll cause more damage before you are through. Killing the old economy won’t be enough for you. You want to get rid of the middle class completely.
Soon in Ontario, we will become like the USA south where there are only two classes of people. Rich and poor.
Thanks McLiar.

Maybe the economy could start to recover if McGuinty would take his foot off its neck. Every decision he makes causes the people of Ontario to be poorer, the debt to be higher and the services to be fewer. It’s not the isn’t fically responsible…he’s fiscally clueless. Go away and let someone else fix the damage you’ve done.

I surely hope citizens of Ontario remember what Dalton McGuinty has done to us when we vote next October!
Bubba says Give us more notice next time
Good thing you didn’t announce in advance your visit here. It takes at least 12 hours to warm up the tar. We will catch you eventually. You’ll wish you had stayed in Toronto. Oh, and after we boot your ass out of the legislature, we are going to take away your golden pension, retroactively. Better find a safe place to run for mayor.

You BET you’re gone, McG.
Only unintelligent folk don’t learn from their mistakes.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

The economy is dead and it is not coming back as long as Dilton McDoily is in power at Queens Park. I simply cannot wait for the 2011 provincial election. I would vote for a dead pig before I would vote for this cretin

It is now common knowledge that McLiar is living in another world. We can only hope to minimize the damage that his out of touch government does in the remaining year. Then: Goodbye McLiar. It can’t come soon enough for most of us here in Ottawa.

Dalton McGuinty is the MPP for my jurisdiction. I feel this Premier is/has already attacked me on so many fronts financially that I’m to the point of revolt.
He expects me to accept a wage freeze for two years while he can pass those savings on to our Banks and big business and their share holders. Which ironically, still will be at a shortfall and everybody in this province will still have to bank roll the difference.
Between that, the HST, soaring energy prices, we are being nickeled and dimed to death.
Come next election day, you Dalton McGuinty, nor you party, will have my vote.
Very Sincerely,
Hobbes
I’ll give you a slight out, in that Ontario has been hit by a lot of forces from outside. But, we didn’t need the “health tax” if reasonable changes had been made to the health care system. We wouldn’t need more money for education if you hadn’t spoiled the teachers because you fear their unions. We’d have lots of money to weather the economic storm raging now, if you’d just had the guts to cut expenditures that support special interests of all kinds, but mostly the boys who are Liberal supporters who are eating at the trough! If you don’t see the light, you are dead meat for sure next October. You should use the old Roman gladiators slogan “We who are about to die, salute you!” Taps is now in order!

Hey McGuilty….you have destroyed this province, sadly you are so incompetent you do not even recognize the damage you have done.
Hope the door gives you a good hard whack on your way out.

Mr. McD…you are a true poser or should I say puppet. If you really think that us Ontarians are that lame to listen to your schpeel, then you must really not favour your caucus.
You have the gross indecency to say that small business is important to Ontario yet you gut them of any way to actually make a difference in helping the economy. As an example…I am a small business…home renovations contractor. With your HST deal added onto the bottom line of a estimate, the only reaction I get is one pissed off POTENTIAL client feeling burned paying YOUR tax. My SAMLL BUSSINESS has dropped by over 50% due to your TAX. People do not want to deal with an added 8% on a 10,000 dollar estimate…so thank you for basically putting my legitimate SMALL BUSINESS into the waste bucket! You catered to BIG BUSINESS and made the people pay the difference. What was done was very unfaiir to your people…and don’t think we will never EVER forget it. You and your party really disgusts me.

The sad part about this is that he believes what he says… I thought we hit the bottom of the barrel when Bob Ray was there… Well Congratulation Dalton, you broke through and no one knows where it will stop. Bring on the elections, we will show you what no more B.S. means…. We are tired of all the lies you have spunned since you got there. I am gald to say I didn’t vote for you and will make sure no one in my environment will.
Katherine
Premier McGuinty is pretty naive to think that Ontarions will ignore the big issues of HST, Hydro, Health Care situations etc.in the upcoming elections. His days are numbered!!!!
Murray
Talk about totally clueless and out of touch McG just doesn’t get it. Ontario should have had a chance in a referendum to vote on the HST issue and the Green Action plan before they were implemented or waited till October 2011 to have their voices heard. He needs to quit now and let someone else start to repair the damage he has done to all of Ontario.
Voice Of Reason
…the old Ontario economy is dead… and you Sir… will be too come next election!
Signed
A life-long Liberal voter.

People of Ontario will remember what you have done to us. McG should resign immediately. I regretted voting for you the first time and will never vote Liberal again. Shame! Shame! Shame!

Let’s get a few things straight Dalton. You speak of the importance of small business – what do you think the skyrocketing hydro rates will do to them? They are already struggling and now they have an added hurdle. Nice job. You can defend your policies all you want but the fact of the matter is that you have done nothing but take away more of our hard earned dollars every time you make a decision. As one person commented, you are wiping out the middle class – and once that happens, you have the rich and the poor – neither of which contribute to the taxes in this country like the middle class does. Once we reach that stage we will be on our way to 3rd world country status.
Hopefully, the province can make it through another year with you at the helm – but after that, you will be gone and history will place you in the same place as Bob Rae – as someone who contributed to the destruction of Ontario – as someone who can’t be trusted. Say goodnight Dalton.
Ted Kendell
It is apparent that McGuinty has not talked to too many small business that are presently on the Time of Use Meters. For example one small business in Rockland was charged $2700 dollars for electricity this last month. On top of that he has salaries, rent, and other costs associated with his business. And he has no option of only runnning his business at night.
Good going Pinocchio
Ted

McGuinty’s most recent lie was to the Ottawa teachers, lawyers, social workers, teachers, and developers who made up the $500/ticket crowd at his annual Pay-Me dinner this week.
Much to the delight of his “guests” he announced he would definitely be personally leading the Liberals over the cliff in next October’s election – “I Dalton will never quit!” – the bookies are ready for that action.
to dalton mcguinty (a true characature of a male type organ) ontario will remember how you tried to kill it.(are u paid by china?) and im not sure right now if you won but i hope there is still enough strength and spirit yet to get over the beating u gave us . i also hope that u are not only voted out in the next election but that someone actually gets ahold of u and sends u out with what u have really earned and the people of ontario would love to bestowe on you . AN OLD FASHIONED TAR AND FEATHERING!!!! you will go down in history as the worst politician in north american history. im sure u will burn in —-.
