Alta Vista Comm Assoc reschedules AGM to accommodate October election date
On August 26th and 27th, I wrote about the Alta Vista Community Association changing the date of their AGM from before the election where candidates were suppose to speak to after October 25th. The association said it was a scheduling issue. My assertion that the move unfairly benefitted the incumbent, Peter Hume, and hurt the challengers met with great consternation for association executives.
I’m pleased to announce that the association has been able to reschedule their AGM to the original date of October 20th where candidate in the municipal election will get the opportunity to address attending AGM members.
It is important to note that candidate Clinton Cowan was present at the original meeting when the date was set for October 20. So when the date was moved, he felt as if it was done on purpose to hurt challengers. The president of the association assures me that that was not the case and that is why they moved expeditiously to reinstate the original date.

As a former president to Canterbury Community Association I can state that the executive broke their own by-laws by not having their AGM in timely fashion. The CCA normally have their AGMs in June every year. What led to the delay….who knows?
All I know is that the current Board of Directors does not have the best interest of the community when they were elected back in 2009. Perhaps things have changed, or at least one would hope it has. Not all board members should be painted in this bad light, as there are some very good people still sitting on it and thankfully good community programs are still in place.
I hope better people step up to challenge the old CCA board of directors.
Plain & simple deliberate thats Peter’s style learned well from “back room Bob Chiarelli
