What’s up with Bay Ward?
First it’s in the news for the rash of crime related incidences over the past few weeks and now, a flood of new entrants for councillor for the upcoming election. I think the number is up to ten registered candidates.
Last week I blogged about the “candidate who we shall not name” and now former Kitchissippi Ward councillor (1997-2006) Shawn Little. CFRA broke the news yesterday that Mr. Little will make a political comeback attempt in Bay Ward.
After doing some investigative research, this may not be the end of weirdo news from Ward 7, if Ward 7 in Toronto is any indication. In this Toronto ward, the incumbent Giorgio Mammoliti decided to make a run for Mayor (just like Alex Cullen in our Ward 7). But Mr. Mammoliti was not getting very good polling results in his quest for the mayor’s chair (just like Alex Cullen). So Mr. Mammoliti has dropped out of the race for mayor and is running for his old seat in Ward 7 in Toronto.
Do you think that Alex Cullen might follow suit?
Just wondering!

That would certainly top the whole thing off.
Until and unless a real conservative standsfor office in Bay ward, Mr Cullens decision to stay in the race, or try again in Bay ward won’tmake much difference. That poor ward is doomed to more liberal nonsense.
I would not be surprised, that he would dropped out of the mayors race, in fact to get things rolling, he has two choices he could also put his candidacy as a Public Scholl Trustee, he was once a Trustee with the Ottawa Board of Education (public schools) perhaps the best thing for him and for us. From what I have seen of him in past years, he comes in close second to Terry Kirea’s life long ambition to being a political hero of some sort. If he loses this october 25th in whatever candidacy he tries. He will more than likely try to push out Michael Ignatieff !!
I think, personally, that Doucet entering really seals off Alex Cullen. They have more or less the same constituency, but Doucet seems to capture it better.
I am wondering if Mr. Cullen is looking for the money he would get from losing to put towards building a 2011 Prov. campaign. Just a thought!
Thank God I do not live in Bayward the choice would kill you 8or9 LIBERALS 1 Conservative you have to feel sorry for about 48,000 people who live there.
There are 24 positions open in the upcoming City of Ottawa Election! We need to make sure that all positions filled are by those wanting to work for all areas and all issues!
Yup! It’s going to happen
We really need a new voice in Bay Ward, so I hope that Cullen stays in the mayoral race. Hey, if he loses, he’ll just hook up with some taxpayer-funded cause, find a way to keep his face in the media, a la Alex Munter.
I have talked to a couple of the new faces running here in Bay Ward, and I like what I hear.
Even Alex Cullen knows he will NEVER be mayor of Ottawa. He is super smart yes, but at such a “young” age, he sounds and looks like yesterdays man. He is simply running to lose so he could collect his pension. The funny rule in Ottawa is that, one has to lose an election before they collect their pension. So that crazy rule has given us Alex Cullen 2010!
